The Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF), an international event discussing global economic issues widely known as the Summer Davos Forum, will be held in Dalian, Liaoning Province, China, from June 23 to 25. According to a report by China's state-run Xinhua News Agency on June 17, the theme of this year's forum, marking its 17th anniversary, is "Scaling Up Innovation," with main agendas set to cover the future development direction of the Chinese economy and ways to economically utilize technological innovation.
The forum will bring together over 1,700 government officials, business leaders, and scholars from some 90 countries and regions to discuss plans for global cooperation in science and technology innovation, centering on cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), new energy, biopharmaceuticals, and quantum technology. An event introducing China's 15th Five-Year (2026–2030) Plan will also take place.
In this regard, Gao Weiqi, deputy director of China's National Development and Reform Commission, said, "We will demonstrate the achievements of China's high-quality economic development to the international community and convey our firm commitment to openness and cooperation," adding, "We look forward to sharing the opportunities provided by Chinese-style modernization with the world."
The Summer Davos Forum is widely recognized as a representative international conference hosted by China since 2007, inviting political and business leaders from around the world to establish a platform for discussing the global economy and international issues. It is held alternately in Dalian, Liaoning Province, and Tianjin.
