U.S. President Donald Trump announced on July 22 that a trade agreement with Japan has been finalized, adding that Japan will pay a 15% mutual tariff to the United States.
“We just completed a massive deal with Japan — perhaps the biggest ever,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Japan, under my direction, will invest $550 billion in the United States, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs.”
He further highlighted that Japan has agreed to open its markets to American products, including automobiles, trucks, rice, and certain agricultural goods. “Most importantly,” he added, “we will always maintain a great relationship with Japan.”
