U.S. President Donald Trump posted a map of the Middle East on his Truth Social account on the 26th local time, labeling the Strait of Hormuz as the "TRUMP STRAIT."

The post marked President Trump's first public reaction after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi laid out conditions to the U.S. on the 24th, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, for resuming negotiations on the Strait of Hormuz and the nuclear issue.

At the time, Foreign Minister Araghchi proposed that if the U.S. lifts its naval blockade, waives sanctions on Iranian oil exports, and implements a ceasefire across all fronts, Iran would resume negotiations regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the nuclear issue within seven days.

President Trump shared the map marked "TRUMP STRAIT" without any accompanying comment. Observers interpret this as reiterating his existing stance refusing to recognize Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz.

President Trump previously posted a map on Truth Social in August labeling the Strait of Hormuz as "New U.S. Territory." On the 2nd of this month, he wrote, "Now that we control the Strait, should we change the name of the Strait of Hormuz to TRUMP STRAIT?"
