Lee vows to track scalping and recover illicit proceeds

President Lee Jae-myung said on the 17th, "Regarding ticket scalping that deprives people of legitimate opportunities to attend events, we will track it down to the end and without fail recover all illicit profits."


Posting on X (formerly Twitter) earlier in the day, President Lee wrote, "The revised Public Performance Act, which took effect on August 28, is proving its efficacy.


"President Lee emphasized, "A ticket scalper who pocketed billions of won by reselling tickets for idol concerts, domestic performances by foreign singers, and sporting events at up to 30 times their face value has been apprehended," adding, "We will clearly demonstrate that making illicit gains through scalping will inevitably lead to paying a far higher price."


He concluded with words of praise for the authorities, stating, "My deepest thanks go to all the police officials who worked tirelessly on this effort."
