Korean content posted a double win on Netflix’s global rankings, with the series Cashero and the film The Great Flood topping their respective non-English charts.
According to Netflix’s official site Tudum on Tuesday, Cashero ranked No. 1 in the non-English TV category for the week from Dec. 29 to Jan. 4, drawing 6.1 million views. After debuting at No. 2 in its first week, the series rebounded in its second week to claim the top spot.
Cashero introduces a fresh take on the Korean superhero genre: the protagonist gains powers in proportion to the cash he holds, but loses money the more he uses those abilities. The series entered the top 10 in 51 countries, showing particular strength across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia and Thailand. Actor Lee Jun-ho’s portrayal of Sang-ung — a hero who checks his wallet before unleashing superpowers — added a distinctive twist.
