Hyun Bin, Son Ye-jin win top Blue Dragon awards

Star couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin celebrated a rare double victory at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards on Wednesday, winning Best Actor and Best Actress respectively. Director Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice also emerged as the night’s biggest winner, taking home six awards including Best Picture and Best Director.

 

Hosted by actors Han Ji-min and Lee Je-hoon, the ceremony was held at KBS Hall in Yeouido and broadcast live for roughly 100 minutes starting at 8:30 p.m.


Hyun Bin won Best Actor for Harbin, while Son Ye-jin earned Best Actress for her performance in No Other Choice.


It is the first time in the award show’s history that an acting couple has simultaneously won both top acting prizes. Both also picked up the Cheongjeongwon Popular Star Awards, giving them two trophies each.

 

No Other Choice, which depicts the struggle of an unemployed family man fighting to regain stability, won six awards in total. In addition to Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress, the film earned Best Supporting Actor for Lee Sung-min, Best Music for Cho Young-wuk and Best Technical Achievement for Cho Sang-kyung.


Park Chan-wook’s win marks his fourth Blue Dragon Best Director title, following Joint Security Area, Oldboy and Decision to Leave.

 

Meanwhile, the Best Supporting Actress award went to Park Ji-hyun for Hidden Face.


Ahn Bo-hyun and Kim Do-yeon won Best New Actor and Best New Actress for their roles in The Devil Moved In and Amoeba Girls and the School Horror: Anniversary, respectively.


Director Kim Hye-young won Best New Director for It’s Okay, It’s Okay, It’s Okay!, while Harbin’s Hong Kyung-pyo and Park Jung-woo received the award for cinematography and lighting.


The Best Screenplay award was given to The Match, written by directors Kim Hyung-joo and Yoon Jong-bin.
