The Korean film “No Other Choice” is extending its winning run on the international festival circuit.
According to distributor CJ ENM on November 5, “No Other Choice” won the International Audience Award at the 28th SCAD Savannah Film Festival. Director Park Chan-wook had previously received the festival’s International Auteur Award.
The SCAD Savannah Film Festival is one of the world’s largest university-run film festivals, showcasing a wide spectrum from student shorts to commercial and independent features.
Invited to the competition section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival—the first Korean film in 13 years to compete there—“No Other Choice” has already collected six additional trophies beyond SCAD: the International Audience Award at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival and a special achievement honor for lead actor Lee Byung-hun; Best Director at the 58th Sitges Film Festival; the Global Impact Award for Park Chan-wook and Artist of Distinction for Lee at the 26th Newport Beach Film Festival; and a merit award for Park at the 12th Miami International Film Festival.
The film is also nominated in three categories at the 35th Gotham Awards—international feature, adapted screenplay, and lead performance.
