Actor Yeo Jin-goo will begin his mandatory military service on December 15 as a member of the Korean Augmentation to the U.S. Army (KATUSA), his agency announced on November 3.

“Yeo Jin-goo has been selected to serve as a KATUSA soldier and will fulfill his duty for 18 months starting December 15,” the agency said, adding that details regarding the enlistment location and time will not be disclosed to the public.

In a statement, Yeo’s representatives said, “He will return healthy and more mature after faithfully completing his military duty. We ask for warm support and encouragement.”

Yeo Jin-goo rose to fame with his roles in hit dramas such as The Moon Embracing the Sun, The Crowned Clown, and Hotel Del Luna, as well as in films including Hwayi: A Monster Boy, Ditto, and Hijacking.
