Director Park Chan-wook won the Best Director award at the 58th Sitges Film Festival on October 19 for his latest feature No Other Choice, marking his fifth trophy from the Catalonian genre showcase.

According to distributor CJ ENM, Sitges—held annually in Spain—is the world’s largest festival dedicated to genre cinema, spotlighting works of fantasy and horror known for originality and high craftsmanship. Park previously took home major Sitges honors with Oldboy (Best Film), Three… Monster (Best FX), and I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK (Best Screenplay), underscoring his long-running ties with the festival.

No Other Choice became the first Korean film in 13 years to compete at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, and screened at the New York Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, and Miami Film Festival, among others. In Korea, the film is drawing strong crowds and is approaching the 3-million admissions mark.
