Chaeyoung of TWICE makes her solo debut today (Sept. 12) with the release of her first full-length album LIL FANTASY vol.1.

Following Nayeon, Jihyo and Tzuyu, she is the fourth TWICE member to go solo. Chaeyoung took full creative control of the project — writing, composing, arranging and even directing the visual artwork — in a bid to present her unfiltered identity as an artist.

The title track “SHOOT” blends jazz and disco with a playful performance style. “It’s a song you can dance to, but also a declaration of my artistic ambition — a way to celebrate the entire album,” Chaeyoung said.

The album’s name, LIL FANTASY, represents the “small world inside me,” she explained. “It feels like opening up a treasure box, revealing my honest inner self. Adding ‘vol.1’ means this story will continue.”

The ten-track record features songs such as Avocado, Band-Aid, Girl, Ribbons, Downpour, BF, Shadow Play, My Guitar, and CD-only track Lonely Doll Waltz. Many were created in casual sessions with close musician friends, reflecting a warm, family-like atmosphere.

Chaeyoung also emphasized performance. “Like in the teaser, the choreography mixes jazz elements with an 80s–90s disco vibe for a refreshing stage,” she said.

Already recognized globally through TWICE, Chaeyoung has contributed to the Netflix animation K-pop Demon Hunters with the track Takedown and performed at Lollapalooza Chicago. “I feel lucky to show this side of myself too,” she noted, adding a message to fans: “I hope this precious album can also be meaningful for you, and that you’ll build your own fantasy worlds.”

LIL FANTASY vol.1 was released at 1 p.m. on September 12 across major streaming platforms.
