The original soundtrack (OST) for Netflix’s animated film K-pop Demon Hunters is continuing its explosive success both domestically and internationally, dominating major music charts.

According to Billboard on July 13 (local time), the K-pop Demon Hunters OST climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, its highest ranking yet. The album debuted at No. 8 in its first week, rose to No. 3 in the second, and has now reached No. 2 in its third week—marking a rare, steady ascent. It is only the fourth OST in the 2020s to break into the top two of the Billboard 200, following Wicked, Barbie, and Encanto.

During the current tracking week, the album recorded 75,000 album-equivalent units, a 21% increase from the previous week. Of those, 70,000 units came from streaming (equivalent), 4,000 from physical album sales, and 1,000 from digital downloads.

Billboard noted that this marks the first time since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) that an OST has climbed the chart for three consecutive weeks. The album also racked up a staggering 96.33 million streams in its third week—the highest for an OST since Encanto in 2022.

The response in South Korea has been equally fervent. “Golden,” the theme song performed by the fictional girl group HUNTRIX featured in the film, reached No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100 chart, overtaking All Day Project’s “FAMOUS” and aespa’s “Dirty Work.”

Other tracks from the OST also made strong showings on the Melon chart: “Soda Pop” ranked No. 5, “Your Idol” at No. 19, followed by “How It’s Done” (No. 54), “TAKEDOWN” (No. 93), and “Free” (No. 98). In total, six songs from the soundtrack entered the Top 100.
