Actress Lee Si-young revealed on July 8 that she is pregnant with her second child through IVF—using an embryo created during her marriage and implanted without her ex-husband's consent.

In a message posted to her social media account that morning, Lee wrote, “I’m pregnant,” explaining that the embryo had been created during her marriage as part of their efforts to have a second child. “As our legal relationship was ending, the storage period for the frozen embryo was also nearing expiration. I decided to go through with the implantation myself,” she said. “Although my former partner did not agree, I take full responsibility for my decision.”

Reflecting on her marriage, she added, “What gave me the strength to endure a difficult relationship was my angelic child. Though I know many challenges may lie ahead, I believe this choice will be more meaningful. I promise to raise this child on my own with sincerity and a strong sense of responsibility.”

Shortly afterward, Korean media outlet Dispatch reported the response of her ex-husband, identified as Mr. A. He confirmed, “It’s true I did not agree to a second pregnancy,” but added, “Now that the child is on the way, I will do my best as a father and will work things out with the mother.”

Lee married entrepreneur A in September 2017 and had one son. The couple finalized their divorce this past March. She recently shared that she has been spending a month in New York with her son. Lee currently stars in the ENA drama Salon de Holmes.
