Actress Han Hyo-joo made an official statement about being blackmailed by former managers.

On November 25, Han Hyo-joo's agency BH Entertainment stated, "On November 4, an unidentified male made a threatening phone call to Han Hyo-joo's father demanding money, saying 'We have Han Hyo-joo's private photos. Do not tell Han Hyo-joo and deposit 400 million won.' After consulting with Han Hyo-joo, she said, 'I never did anything that would cause a trouble.' We decided that it must be strongly handled as they seemed to be making bad use of the fact that she is a public figure to blackmail, so we reported it to the police right away. Then her father has been cooperating with the police to handle the problem."

The agency said, "This incident was a calculated crime involving additional accomplices apart from the man who made a threatening phone call from abroad. The police were able to catch three people involved with the blackmail on November 7. The arrested party were from Han Hyo-joo's former agency that has gone out of business. As they had gotten to the point where they had no money for even their cell phone bill, they had attempted to blackmail Han Hyo-joo's father. After investigation, it turned out that they didn't even have any private pictures related to Han Hyo'joo's private life unlike their threats."
