Naver to strengthen transparency of personal information service

The company will strengthen technological management to prevent defamation and to block false information.

On October 1, Naver announced that it will strengthen technological and administrative measures in managing its personal information service.

Naver will improve its service to expose credible information primarily in its search result when a user searches for a certain person. Also, the company will further strengthen its management of related keywords and auto-complete keywords to block false information and to prevent defamation.

By setting up a committee composed of external experts, Naver plans to receive constant inspection for its general management and service policy in order to strengthen transparency of its personal information service.

In addition, the company plans to form an independent customer service center only for personal information-related issues, to help related parties modify or report their personal details more efficiently.

Han Sung-sook, a Naver Service executive, stated, "We will actively manage to stop the exposure and spread of harmful information on our personal information service. With external verification, we will work hard to provide credible information."
