7.5 million small businesses plan to take collective action before Naver headquarters if Naver's threat continues

On August 7, the participants of 'The 1st Small Business Naver damage case briefing session' are performing Naver damage case at the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business.

Small businesses decided to take group action against the tyranny of Naver.

On August 7, 'Small Business Committee on Naver Affairs' (or Naver Affairs Committee) under Small Business Federation Organizing Committee held 'The 1st Small Business Naver damage case briefing session' at the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business in Seoul. The Naver Affairs Committee announced the cases of small businesses damaged by Naver's monopoly status and requested for correction.

The committee criticized, "Naver has become a dinosaur and has been encouraging abundant advertisings to its advertisers. By doing such things, it has distorted the internet advertising market."

The committee gave two examples, the diversification of advertising methods and the reckless expansion of its business lines.

The committee said, "In the case of real estate information business, for instance, companies such as 'Boodongsan114' and 'Speedbank' provided their real estate information services through Naver at first. However, Naver began to provide such service directly by itself under the guise of solving false property issues. For such reason, many real estate information providers' sales have dropped."

The committee continued, "In other businesses such as computer, games, books, music, and securities, the existing small and medium-sized business operators are threatened because Naver started to provide direct services."

Small and medium-sized business operators who attended the session made a presentation about their own damage cases. Is4u is a web application developer who developed a memo platform application called 'MemoThis', that has been selected as one of government's R&D technology innovation project in 2009. However, Naver claimed that 'MemoThis' was a type of malicious software which had a negative impact on its advertising sales. Due to Naver's unfair practice, all the advertising contracts with Is4u had been stopped.

During the session, the committee expressed the situation through art performance, in which small and medium-sized business operators are caught in Naver's trap and forced to spend an incredible amount of money.

The committee said, "If Naver's threat continues despite the struggle of small and medium-sized business operators, 7.5 million businesses have no choice but to gather before Naver building to demand correction."
