Joo Won confirms to play a doctor in an upcoming medical drama

Actor Joo Won has confirmed to play a doctor in KBS 2TV's upcoming drama "Green Scalpel (or "Green Mass")."

On May 28, an official from Joo Won's agency said, "Joo Won has been cast as male lead Park Si-On who is a pediatric surgery resident for 'Green Scalpel'."

Park Si-On is a son of a miner and has witnessed domestic violence as a child. He suffers from autism and developmental disorder, and receives special education in the health center instead of facilities for special children. The hospital director recognizes that Si-On is suffering from savant syndrome and support him to become a pediatric surgery resident. Si-On has the spirit of a child with innocent and warmhearted personality.

Joo Won said, "I've decided to play Park Si-On after careful consideration because I could express both the genius and innocence of a man at the same time."

The official from Joo Won's agency said, "Joo Won believes 'Green Scalpel' is a great opportunity for him to broaden his acting spectrum. He is a hard working actor and we believe he will work hard this time as well. Please give him a lot of support."

Meanwhile, 'Green Scalpel' is a human medical drama about a young man who suffers from autism and developmental disorder overcoming his obstacles to becomes a genuine surgeon. It is scheduled to air in August following 'Shark'.
