Roy Kim‘s “Spring Spring Spring” embroiled in plagiarism controversy

Singer Roy Kim has been embroiled in plagiarism controversy.

Recently, Roy Kim's hit "Spring Spring Spring" (Bom Bom Bom) is drawing plagiarism controversy across online communities.

Some netizens pointed out that the song sounds similar to the late Kim Kwang-Suk's "Where the Wind Blows", Norwegian band a-ha's "Take On Me", and Acoustic Rain's "Love is Cannon".

"Spring Spring Spring" is Roy Kim's self-written song and is described to be one of the country music genre with the retro style elements.

As the plagiarism controversy occurred online, an online cafe called 'We Demand the Truth from Roy Kim', or 'RoJinYo' was created shortly after.

A rep from Roy Kim said, "The plagiarism allegations do not make any sense. 'Spring Spring Spring' is self-made by Roy Kim. The baseless plagiarism controversy is too harsh for a singer who has just debuted."
