The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) have joined hands to block the distribution of online illegal and harmful information, such as illegal filming and sex work advertisements.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and KISA signed a memorandum of understanding for creating a safe digital environment at the Government Complex Seoul on the afternoon of the 27th and agreed to establish a proactive response system that detects in real time and quickly blocks online illegal and harmful information such as the distribution of illegal filming and sex work advertisements.

This agreement focuses on shifting the response method from post-incident measures to real-time detection and rapid blocking in response to the rapid online spread of digital sex crimes and illegal advertisements. KISA will collect and detect information on harmful websites and spam text messages and share it with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family plans to request follow-up measures, such as verifying the illegality of the relevant information and requesting the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Deliberation Commission to block it.

In addition, key keywords highly likely to lead to harm such as the distribution of illegal filming will be jointly derived, and based on this, spam text filtering and blocking will be strengthened, along with measures to suspend the use of phone numbers with confirmed illegality.

Through this cooperation, both organizations expect to more effectively block advertisements for sex work and illegal nightlife establishments and the distribution of illegal filming, contributing to the prevention of public harm and the creation of a safe digital environment.

Minister of Gender Equality and Family Won Min-kyung said, "The infinite replication and indiscriminate distribution of digital sex crimes and illegal information threaten the safe daily lives of the public and lure ordinary citizens into illegality, requiring active responses to block them in advance," adding, "Moving forward, both organizations will actively cooperate to create a digital environment that all citizens can use with peace of mind, continuously considering laws, systems, and technical improvement plans to build a stronger shield."

President of KISA Lee Sang-jung said, "For an effective response to illegal and harmful information, information sharing and organic cooperation between organizations are more important than anything else," adding, "We will continue to do our best to prevent public harm by blocking the distribution of illegal and harmful information through more cooperation."
