Kyung Hee University won the grand prize in the '2026 Contest for Outstanding Universities in International Student Employment and Entrepreneurship' selected by the Ministry of Education.

The Ministry of Education announced on July 27 that it evaluated and selected six outstanding universities for awards in the 2026 Contest for Outstanding Universities in International Student Employment and Entrepreneurship.

This contest was launched to discover and spread outstanding models so that international student policies can extend beyond recruitment to employment, entrepreneurship, and local settlement. The Ministry of Education comprehensively evaluated support for employment, entrepreneurship, and local settlement, as well as global network building.

Following the evaluation of 27 applicant universities, Kyung Hee University received the grand prize in the four-year university category, while Jeonju Vision College won the grand prize in the junior college category. Excellence awards were presented to Kangwon National University, Kyungsung University, and Chungnam National University (four-year universities), alongside Kyungbok University (junior college).

Kyung Hee University introduced 'KHU-PASS,' which certifies international students' core competencies step-by-step, issuing completion results as digital badges to be used in job-seeking activities. Program participation increased from 196 cases to 527 cases per semester.

Jeonju Vision College operated the Saemangeum Hangul School locally in Myanmar and Vietnam to recruit outstanding talent early, while supporting the acquisition of region-specific visas through a social integration program. Among its graduates, the college produced 54 employed individuals (42.8%) and 85 local residents in the province (67.5%).

Kangwon National University linked internships with 19 local companies, securing hiring intentions from 12 of them, while Kyungsung University increased the number of employed and settled graduates from 13 to 21 through a newly established employment support center and a network of 43 local companies. Chungnam National University connected 13 hires to 5 companies through step-by-step support, and Kyungbok University achieved successful results in helping graduates obtain employment visas (E-7) in cooperation with 34 partner hospitals.

Vice Minister Choi Eun-ok is scheduled to state, "We must expand support so that local industries can nurture the talent they need and help them settle stably in local communities." She will add, "We will build a sustainable ecosystem for international student employment and settlement by spreading these best practices to universities nationwide."
