I Am Solo’s Sun-ja says Gyeong-su’s sincerity gave her strength

Sun-ja, a contestant from the South Korean dating reality show I Am Solo, has shared her thoughts following the conclusion of the program’s 31st season, expressing gratitude for the support she received and confirming that her relationship with fellow contestant Gyeong-su is continuing after the show.

In a post uploaded to Instagram on May 28, Sun-ja wrote that the period from entering “Solo Nation” in January to the end of the broadcast felt both intense and surreal.

“The five days and six nights I spent in Solo Nation were the most intense and concentrated moments of my life,” she wrote. “Because I was sincere in every moment, there were times when I was misunderstood and experienced emotional hardship, but the process allowed me to become a stronger person.”

Sun-ja said she has always believed that whether others like or dislike her is beyond her control and that expressing her feelings honestly is more important than calculating the outcome.

“I’ve always thought that liking someone means expressing those feelings wholeheartedly without overthinking, and if those feelings are not returned, it’s my responsibility to let them go without regret,” she wrote.

She also thanked fellow cast members who supported her throughout the filming and broadcast process.

“Whenever I had to swallow my emotions, Young-ja’s encouragement and my confidence in Gyeong-su’s sincerity — much of which was not fully shown on television — gave me the strength to endure,” she wrote.

Sun-ja further revealed that she and Gyeong-su have continued their relationship after leaving the show.

“Now that Gyeong-su and Sun-ja have left Solo Nation, Sang-jun and Da-eun are continuing to get to know each other in the real world and adjusting the pace of our relationship,” she wrote, referring to their real names.

She concluded by thanking viewers for their messages and comments, saying that although she could not respond to each one individually, she appreciated every word of support.

Season 31 of I Am Solo concluded on May 27 with the final couple selections. Three pairs were formed during the finale: Gyeong-su and Sun-ja, Young-ho and Ok-sun, and Young-sik and Jeong-hui. However, Gyeong-su and Sun-ja were the only pair who confirmed that they remain together after filming ended.
