Hyosung Heavy Industries will showcase key power infrastructure solutions aimed at AI data centers at a major U.S. transmission and distribution exhibition, as it steps up efforts to expand its presence in the local market.
The company announced on April 30 that it will participate in IEEE PES T&D 2026, to be held in Chicago from May 4 to 7. Hosted by the IEEE, the event is one of the largest global platforms in the power industry, with around 800 companies participating.
The highlight of Hyosung’s showcase is its 800kV 7000A gas-insulated circuit breaker (GCB), the world’s largest-capacity product of its kind. Developed in March for export to the U.S., the model maintains the same size as the previous 5000A version while increasing capacity to 7000A. It is considered a critical component for expanding the 765kV transmission network in the United States.
Another key product is the solid state transformer (SST), designed to improve power efficiency in data centers by reducing energy loss compared to conventional transformers. Hyosung has developed the world’s first 22.9kV-class SST and is expanding the technology to support higher voltage applications.
The company will also present voltage source high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems and STATCOM (static synchronous compensator) solutions. HVDC is used for long-distance power transmission, while STATCOM helps stabilize power supply for data centers and renewable energy facilities.
A company official said, “By combining our accumulated power infrastructure expertise with next-generation solutions, we aim to lead the paradigm shift in the U.S. power market.”
