South Korea’s benchmark KOSPI briefly surpassed the 6,400 level for the first time on April 22, extending its record-breaking rally.
The index opened lower but climbed during early trading, reaching an intraday high of 6,397.30 and renewing its all-time peak just a day after the previous record.
As of 9:06 a.m., the KOSPI was down 28.53 points, or 0.42%, at 6,359.94, fluctuating between gains and losses.
The volatility follows a strong surge in the previous session, when the index jumped 2.72% to close at 6,388.47—marking a fresh record high for both closing and intraday levels for the first time in about two months since before the Iran conflict.
Meanwhile, the tech-heavy KOSDAQ index declined 8.32 points, or 0.71%, to 1,170.71 during the same period, moving in the opposite direction of the main board.
