Producer Na Young-seok’s production team is returning with a new Netflix variety show set against the dramatic backdrop of Korea’s snow-covered mountains in midwinter.

Netflix’s upcoming series Take A Hike follows four reluctant, first-time hikers who have spent their lives avoiding mountains, as they take on a grueling winter expedition through some of Korea’s most iconic snowy peaks. The show documents their journey to discover why people hike in the first place—enduring cold, exhaustion, and self-doubt along the way.

The cast brings together four figures known for distinct personalities and strong public appeal: actor Lee Chae-min, singer Car, the Garden, Dowoon of DAY6, and Tarzzan of ALLDAY PROJECT. Their unpredictable chemistry—formed under extreme winter conditions—is expected to be a central draw.

Rather than focusing solely on physical endurance, Take A Hike frames “K-hiking” through the language of variety entertainment. Humor, frustration, and moments of achievement intersect as the four participants gradually form bonds, turning the challenge into a story about relationships and emotional growth shaped by the harsh environment.

The show also marks the latest collaboration between Netflix and the Na Young-seok production team. Direction is handled by Park Hyun-yong, known for hit variety series such as Earth Arcade and Jinny’s Kitchen. The production aims to reinterpret hiking—an unfamiliar and intimidating activity for many—into an accessible and entertaining format.

Park said the key point of the show lies in watching strangers grow close while enduring hardship together. “Climbing subzero mountains in the dead of winter brings people together very quickly,” he said. “We hope viewers enjoy seeing how people who never understood hiking come to experience the appeal and meaning of K-hiking through this journey.”
