The Kospi pushed past 3,700 for the first time, extending its intraday record-setting rally. Early trading also saw Samsung Electronics jump to an all-time high of 96,900 won, fanning “100,000-won Samsung” expectations.
As of 9:48 a.m., the Kospi was up 66.37 points, or 1.83%, at 3,724.26, after touching an intraday peak of 3,725.74 and repeatedly notching new records.
Samsung Electronics led the charge, briefly topping 96,900 won in early deals and stoking hopes it could soon clear the 100,000-won mark.
Analysts attributed the buying momentum to the overnight strength in U.S. tech stocks.
