Baby DONT Cry has officially entered the K-pop scene, backed by (G)I-DLE’s Jeon Soyeon as producer and Psy’s full support. The first girl group launched by P Nation, Baby DONT Cry consists of four members: Lee Hyun, Kumi, Mia, and Beni.
At their debut showcase held on June 23 at Blue Square in Yongsan, Seoul, the group shared their excitement. “Today is both the realization of a dream and the beginning,” they said.
Leader Lee Hyun stated, “We vowed to become the pride of P Nation.” The members also shared advice from Psy: “He told us to genuinely enjoy the stage.” They added, “We want to inspire fans with our own color.”
The title track of their debut single, F Girl, introduces a new self-coined genre called “Baby Rock.” The song delivers a message that challenges the rigid societal tendency to judge people by grades and numbers. Jeon Soyeon, who also mentored the group as a senior idol, encouraged them to “go in with strength.” The members said they were so excited by the song when they first heard it that they screamed, expressing their deep gratitude.
Japanese members Mia and Kumi named f(x)’s Krystal and BLACKPINK’s Lisa as their role models, while Lee Hyun and Beni cited IU and BLACKPINK’s Jennie as inspirations for their debut dreams.
In today’s K-pop landscape, where talent, individuality, and global visual appeal are all crucial, Psy—well-versed in international stages—clearly understood the market trends. Partnering with Soyeon, he has crafted Baby DONT Cry in his own style. The group is now ready to explore a wide range of genres, starting with “Baby Rock.”
“We want to be remembered as a lovable, confident group that brings healing,” the members said. “Our first goal is to win Rookie of the Year.”
Baby DONT Cry’s F Girl drops at 6 p.m. today on major music platforms.
