Actors Shin Min-a and Ju Ji-hoon have been confirmed to lead the cast of The Remarried Empress, a new Disney+ original series slated for release in 2026.
Adapted from the popular 2018 web novel of the same name, the series follows the story of Navier, Empress of the Eastern Empire, who is abruptly divorced by Emperor Sovieshu. In a bold political and romantic move, she demands to remarry Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom, sparking a dramatic power shift at the heart of the empire.
Shin Min-a will play the central role of Navier, the poised and perfect empress. Ju Ji-hoon has been cast as Emperor Sovieshu, whose decision to separate from Navier sets the story in motion. Lee Jong-suk takes on the role of Prince Heinrey, while Lee Se-young will portray Rashta, a concubine and former runaway slave.
The cast also includes Lee Bong-ryun, Choi Dae-hoon, Park Ho-san, Jung Young-joo, and Nam Yoon-ho in key supporting roles.
The series will be directed by Cho Soo-won, known for his work on I Can Hear Your Voice and Pinocchio, with the script written by Yeojina and Hyun Choong-yeol, the writers behind The Uncanny Counter.
The Remarried Empress is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2026.
