BTS members Jimin and Jungkook were officially discharged from military service on June 11, marking the end of their 18-month enlistment.
According to the music industry, the two singers, who enlisted together as active-duty soldiers in December last year, completed their service at the Army's 5th Division Artillery Brigade in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province. They exited the base in the morning after submitting their discharge reports.
During his service, Jungkook served as a military cook. Known for his cooking skills through live streams with fans before enlistment, he drew attention when it was revealed he was assigned to kitchen duties.
BTS members have been completing their military duties in succession. Eldest member Jin was discharged in June last year, followed by J-Hope in October. RM and V were discharged just one day ahead of Jimin and Jungkook, on June 10. SUGA, who served as a social service agent, is scheduled to complete his alternative service on June 21.
Both Jimin and Jungkook made waves as solo artists during their hiatus from group activities. Jimin topped the Billboard Hot 100 with “Like Crazy,” while Jungkook achieved the same feat with “Seven.”
Earlier in January, Jimin shared on the fan platform Weverse, “The conversations Jungkook and I have before going to sleep have changed. As the day we reunite with ARMY (our official fan club) gets closer, we often talk about how we’ll return to the stage and what kind of lives we want to lead going forward,” building anticipation for their return to music.
