The film Soju War has been sold to 21 countries around the world, its investor and distributor Showbox announced on June 5.

According to Showbox, the film will begin its international rollout on June 6, starting in North America, including the United States, followed by releases in Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, and Russia.

Doris Pfardrescher, CEO of Well Go USA—which also handled the North American releases of Exhuma and Ransomed—said, "Soju War is a powerful drama set against one of the most significant events in modern Korean history. It will resonate with North American audiences who appreciate intense, dramatic stories based on real events."

A representative from Vietnamese distributor Mockingbird added, "Though centered on economic themes, the film also powerfully conveys friendship, kindness, and life’s core values, offering moments that are both deep and moving."

Set against the backdrop of the 1997 IMF financial crisis, Soju War follows the battle over the fate of Korea’s beloved soju between Jong-rok (played by Yoo Hae-jin), a finance director whose life revolves around soju, and In-beom (played by Lee Je-hoon), a results-driven employee of a global investment firm. The film was released in Korea on May 30.
