Samsung Electronics’ mobile payment service, Samsung Pay, experienced a widespread technical glitch on June 2, preventing users from completing transactions.
According to the company, the disruption began around 7 a.m. and has been affecting users across the country.
Reports quickly spread on social media and online communities, with users posting comments such as, “I panicked when Samsung Pay wouldn’t work,” and “Bring a physical card—customers are unable to complete payments.”
Samsung Electronics stated, “We are aware of an issue where payments are intermittently failing, and recovery efforts are underway,” adding that the exact cause of the outage is still being investigated.
