Actress Hwang Jung-eum has officially concluded her divorce proceedings with former professional golfer and businessman Lee Young-don. The court-approved settlement also paves the way for the cancellation of a real estate asset freeze previously filed by her ex-husband.

Hwang’s agency, Y1 Entertainment, announced on May 26, “The Family Court’s mediation decision has been finalized, and Hwang Jung-eum’s divorce has been amicably resolved. The divorce is now legally established.”

Addressing media reports about a provisional seizure worth 1.8 billion won (approx. $1.3 million) filed by Lee, the agency clarified, “Both parties filed asset preservation measures during the divorce process as part of dividing jointly held property. This is a routine step in such legal procedures.”

The agency added, “With the divorce finalized, the provisional seizure will be lifted. We apologize for not providing further details earlier, as the issue surfaced right before the conclusion of the case.”

“We sincerely apologize for the concerns caused by various issues during Hwang’s private divorce proceedings,” the agency said. “We are also working to swiftly conclude the remaining legal matters involving Hwang’s private company.”

Hwang married Lee in 2016 and they have two sons. The couple briefly reconciled in 2020 after initially filing for divorce, but Hwang filed again in February last year, citing Lee’s alleged infidelity.

Meanwhile, Hwang is currently facing embezzlement charges. She stands accused of misappropriating approximately 4.3 billion won (about $3.1 million) from her wholly owned family-run agency, allegedly investing 4.2 billion won of that amount in cryptocurrency. At her first trial on May 15, Hwang’s legal team admitted to all charges.
