Former Clon singer Koo Jun-yup’s noticeably frail appearance was revealed in a family photo shared by his late wife Barbie Hsu’s mother, Hwang Chun-mei, on May 11 in honor of Mother’s Day in Taiwan.

The photo, which also featured Hsu’s younger sister Hsu Hsi-ti, was accompanied by a heartfelt message from Hwang: “This year’s Mother’s Day is sad. My son-in-law Koo Jun-yup is growing thinner and thinner as he grieves for Hsu.” She added, “I asked friends to create an AI video of Hsu. I’m sincerely grateful to all the artists and friends who continue to remember and bless her. We must stay strong. Even if not now, I believe things will get better gradually.”

In the photo, Koo, wearing a black hat and sunglasses, appeared drastically thinner compared to his usual athletic look, drawing concern from fans. According to Taiwanese media, he has lost nearly 12kg since Barbie Hsu’s death in February and has suffered severe eye swelling from excessive crying. He has suspended all public activities and is reportedly spending time only with close family and friends.

Barbie Hsu—a popular Taiwanese actress, singer, and TV personality—passed away in February after developing pneumonia complications from the flu during a trip to Japan. She and Koo Jun-yup married in 2022.

Koo later wrote on social media, “I am in unspeakable sorrow and pain,” and issued a stern warning against malicious rumors and fake news targeting the late Hsu and her family.
