Actor Kim Soo-hyun made an official statement regarding his controversial CF modeling with China's Hongda Bingchuan.

On June 24, Kim Soo-hyun's agency KeyEast stated, "Kim Soo-hyun was able to become the model for this product as the Hongda Group positively viewed the advertisement influence of Kim Soo-hyun in China. Hongda Group and KeyEast recognized that this is a period where we need more exchange and cooperation on the basis of trust and understanding between Korea and China. We agreed that the naming of the water source did not have any political motives. We hope there is no more misunderstanding or speculation on the matter."

The agency added, "Therefore, we decided to take responsibility for the promises that were made in good faith rather than taking extreme measures. We apologize to those who worry about relationship between Korea and China, and to the fans of Kim Soo-hyun. We promise to be more careful with our activities in the future."

Previously, Kim Soo-hyun and Jun Ji-hyun were selected as endorsement models for Chinese mineral water brand, Hongda Bingchuan however, controversy arose over their naming their water source as Changbai Mountain instead of Baekdu-san.
