As Girls' Generation's Hyoyeon was reported for assault, SM Entertainment made an official statement about Hyoyeon's arrest story.

On April 1, SM Entertainment stated, "Hyoyeon and her friend were joking around, and as her prank got too far, there was a misunderstanding that lead to a police report. The misunderstanding has been immediately cleared with her friend, and the incident has been resolved."

The agency added, "We received warning not to play bad pranks from the police, and we will take care to prevent misunderstandings in the future."

The Yongsan Police Station stated, "A male filed an assault report claiming Girls' Generaition's Hyoyeon hit his face. So we investigated Hyoyeon."

According to the police, Hyoyeon and her male friend B were playing around at a mutual friend's house in Yongsan on March 30. While joking around, Hyoyeon knocked B's hand away, hitting his eye in the process.

Hyoyeon reportedly said, "I'm going to fall into the first floor," and acted as if she was going to fall when B attempted to stop her and was hit in the eye area. B then got angry and reported her for assault.

B stated at the police station, "I reported her for hitting me when I tried to stop her thinking she was actually going to fall. But thinking about it, I don't think she hit me on purpose."

The police stated, "The man had no particular injury. It was a simple incident. It sees it will be concluded as 'no wrongdoing' or 'no right to indict'."
