If you search for "Mirror TV" on the Naver search box, you will see many ads allegedly used venture company MirrorTV's trademark rights on the "power links" of the website. |
Anti-social "dinosaur portal" Naver is suffering discredit for aggravating patent law violation by remaining idle on trademark theft to attract advertisers and even releasing false advertisements.
This case is reported to the Fair Trade Commission already, being subject to investigation.
According to venture company insiders on August 12, Naver abused its monopoly power over online advertising market and either encouraged or remained silently on illegal online advertising practices in order to maximize its ad profit.
If you search for "mirror TV" on the Naver search box, you will see many different ads such as "mirror TV, blackboard TV", "mirror vision", "mirror vision udif", "mirror TV lowest price in WeMakePrice", "GS SHOP mirror TV", "mirror TV eone OMS", and "Auction mirror TV" on top of the result page.
All but two are from other companies who allegedly stole the trademark rights of venture company Mirror TV.
Mirror TV is a manufacturer and seller of innovative product Mirror TV and other related items, holding invention patents, "MirrorTV" trademark rights, and design patents.
If you click the link of "mirror TV lowest price in WeMakePrice", it goes to social commerce site, WeMakePrice, which has nothing to do with MirrorTV. It goes the same to the following links, "GS SHOP mirror TV" and "Auction mirror TV", which are connected to online shopping malls GS SHOP and Auction, respectively.
Venture firms have doubts over Naver whether the company itself made false ads in order to raise the unit cost of search ads.
When MirrorTV presented a certificate of trademark registration, requesting the correction, Naver was found to have neglected the case by demanding the ruling of a formal trial or the authoritative interpretation document of the Patent Office.
A venture industry insider said, "Naver is not protecting patent holders and sheltering illegal thefts for its own advertising revenue. I heard that the case is already submitted to the Fair Trade Commission."
Regarding the matter, an official from the Fair Trade Commission said, "The case is currently under investigation. There are many elements to consider."
