A sell sidecar was triggered on the 13th as the KOSPI tumbled, temporarily suspending programmatic sell orders.

According to the Korea Exchange, programmatic sell orders on the KOSPI market were halted for five minutes starting at 9:47 a.m. today.

A KOSPI sidecar takes effect when the KOSPI 200 futures price drops by 5% or more compared to the reference price and remains at that level for one minute.

This sell sidecar marks the first activation in 55 days, since it was last triggered on August 19.

As of 10:06 a.m., the KOSPI was trading down 5.26% from the previous session at 6,048.68.
