A public hearing to gather broad public input on establishing a joint military academy will be held on the 26th.

The Ministry of National Defense posted a notice of the hearing on its website on the 4th. The event will take place at 2 p.m. at the Defense Convention Center (22 Itaewon-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul).

The hearing is expected to include a presentation by the ministry on the basic plan for establishing the academy, an expert discussion on the necessity and methods of establishing it, and a Q&A session. Presenters will be composed of relevant experts to ensure the fairness of the hearing.

Applications to attend the hearing will be accepted through the 14th, with attendees selected on a first-come, first-served basis given the venue's capacity of 300 people. Even those unable to attend in person can submit their opinions. The hearing will be livestreamed via the Korea Defense Media Agency's broadcast and YouTube channels.

The Ministry of National Defense plans to review the opinions gathered from various sectors at the hearing and then draw up a detailed plan for establishing the academy.
