President Lee Jae-myung, who is on a tour of the U.S. and South America, arrived in Santiago, Chile, on July 29 (local time).

President Lee entered the country through Arturo Merino Benítez Airport in Santiago on that day.

President Lee begins his official visit to Chile with a dinner meeting with overseas Korean compatriots that evening.

On the following day, July 30, he is scheduled to lay a wreath at the statue of founding hero Bernardo O'Higgins, attend an official welcoming ceremony at La Moneda Palace, the presidential palace, and hold a summit, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony, a joint press statement, and an official luncheon.

On the afternoon of the same day, after attending the Korea-Chile Business Roundtable, he will travel to Argentina, the final country of his tour.

President Lee Jae-myung is expected to discuss the modernization of the free trade agreement (FTA) at the summit with Chilean President Kast.

National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac stated in a preliminary briefing on July 22, "Chile is the country with which we signed our very first free trade agreement (FTA)," adding, "We will discuss modernizing the FTA."

As Chile ranks first in the world in reserves of copper and lithium, which are critical minerals for high-tech industries, discussions related to supply chains are also expected to take place.
