The Ministry of Education and the Institute of APEC Collaborative Education are dispatching the APEC Leading Teachers Corps to three countries, including Thailand, from July 26 to August 15.

According to the Ministry of Education on July 27, 15 Korean primary and secondary school teachers are being dispatched sequentially to Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with five teachers sent to each country. They are conducting artificial intelligence (AI) and digital education training for about 140 local teachers and educational professionals.

Under the theme of "Co-Prosperity Through Education in the Era of AI and Digital Great Transformation," this dispatch operates customized training that reflects local needs. The training covers topics such as AI-based class design, coding and physical computing, and digital-based teaching and learning strategies. Outstanding local teachers are also participating as co-trainers to promote mutual learning-type educational cooperation where member economies share educational practices and expertise.

The dispatch of the APEC Leading Teachers Corps is an international teacher exchange project that has been pursued since 2001. Over the past 25 years, a total of 794 Korean teachers have been dispatched, contributing to strengthening the educational capacity of 19,125 local teachers across 11 member economies.

Lee Nan-young, director general of the International Education Planning Bureau, said, "This dispatch is a follow-up project that standardizes in actual school settings the AI and digital educational innovation agreed upon at the 7th APEC Education Ministerial Meeting." She added, "We will continue to expand policy cooperation and teacher exchanges with APEC member economies to promote the spread of K-Edu."
