Hyundai Rotem announced on July 2 that it has carried out an organizational restructuring to strengthen its future business competitiveness. The strategy aims to integrate next-generation business units that were previously scattered across different business sectors, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and preemptively responding to diverse project bidding demands.
First, the name of the existing Defence Solutions (DS) Business Division, which represents the defense sector, will be changed to the AD (Aerospace & Defense) & RH (Robot & Hydrogen) Business Division. The Defence Solutions Global Business Department, which was previously in charge of overseas defense business operations, will be transformed into the AD Global Business Department, taking on additional roles in the aerospace sector.
Units that were responsible for the robotics and hydrogen sectors across the three business and research divisions—defense, rail, and eco-plant—will be consolidated and elevated to the RH Business Department. The RH Business Department will consist of the Robot AX Business Office and the Hydrogen Energy Business Office. The DS Planning Office and DS Domestic Business Office, which previously reported directly to the division head, will be changed to the AD & RH Planning Office and the AD Customer Experience Business Office, respectively.
The Rail Solutions Business Division, the rail business sector, will be renamed the RS (Rail & System) Business Division. The Domestic Business Group, which oversaw domestic public procurement and private investment projects, will be elevated to the RS Customer Experience Business Department. The Domestic Business Office and the Private Investment Project Office, which were under the Domestic Business Group, will be renamed the RS Domestic Business Office and the RS Private Investment Project Office, respectively, while the O&M (Operations & Maintenance) unit within the Private Investment Project Office will be elevated to the RS O&M Business Office.
Hyundai Rotem stated, "The core of this organizational restructuring lies in strengthening our future core business capabilities and enhancing customer satisfaction." The company added, "The defense sector focused on expanding related businesses in line with the global civilian aerospace era. By restructuring so that a single control tower oversees physical AI (artificial intelligence) and hydrogen energy business capabilities, we intend to simultaneously enhance consistent business drive and integrity."
The company further noted, "As the rail sector is directly linked to transportation infrastructure, the organization was restructured to contribute to enhancing citizen welfare and public interest. We will further raise the domestic contribution rate of domestic high-speed trains, which recently achieved their first overseas export performance, and actively respond to the increasing demand for domestic private investment projects, thereby delivering high-quality vehicles on time to drive customer satisfaction."
