North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un sent a congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the 12th to mark Russia's national holiday. Chairman Kim emphasized the "comprehensive strategic partnership" between the two nations.

In the message published by the Rodong Sinmun on this day, Kim addressed Putin as "my close friend, Comrade Vladimir Putin," adding, "I extend my warmest congratulations to the fraternal Russian government and people."

He went on to state, "The DPRK-Russia relationship is unfolding a new chapter in history, further strengthening into a relationship of genuine, dedicated, comradeship-level trust and an alliance. This is a proud fruit earned by our two countries remaining faithful to the obligations of the treaty on the comprehensive strategic partnership and the ideals of justice, proving that our choice was rightful."

Kim further noted, "It is the unwavering will and position of myself and the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to thoroughly support Moscow's domestic and foreign policies and always stand with Russia. Wishing only success and victory for the path ahead of the fraternal Russian people, I sincerely hope for greater achievements in your responsible endeavors."

This day marks "Russia Day," Russia's national holiday. Russia Day commemorates the establishment of the Russian Federation following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
