Global “big tech heavyweight” Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, visited Korea on June 5. It was about eight months since his last trip in October, when he attended the APEC CEO Summit. During this visit, Huang is scheduled to meet with heads of major Korean conglomerates, throw the ceremonial first pitch at a professional baseball game, appear on a variety show, and visit Seoul National University.
Huang arrived around 1 p.m. at Seoul Gimpo Business Aviation Center (SGBAC) in Gangseo District. He had originally been expected the previous day, but his arrival was delayed by one day after completing schedules at “GTC Taipei 2026” and “Computex 2026” in Taiwan.
Meeting with reporters, Huang said, “I came to Korea to thank all our partners and customers.” Asked if he had brought a gift for Korea, he replied, “I brought a lot of business.” He added, “Last year, AI infrastructure was built very quickly and achieved great results. The Korean market is also doing very well. The second half will be much larger than the first half, and next year will be a very big year.”
He also previewed meetings with major Korean companies: “I have many meetings scheduled with Hyundai, LG, SK, Samsung, and Naver. There is much to do.” He suggested the possibility of R&D investment in Korea, saying, “Korea is a great place to invest in R&D centers. With strong AI and robotics capabilities, we can apply our physical AI to industrial sites.”
On NVIDIA’s AI accelerator “Vera Rubin” and its next‑generation high‑bandwidth memory (HBM4), Huang confirmed that Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, and Micron have all qualified as suppliers. “All three companies passed qualification and are in production,” he said. “They are competing to supply us.” Addressing concerns about reduced memory capacity, he noted, “We will use a lot of high‑speed memory. We will work closely with Korean partners to secure maximum supply and use it smartly.”
Later that day, Huang was scheduled to meet League of Legends star “Faker” (Lee Sang‑hyeok) and the T1 team at the “T1 Base Camp” PC café in Seoul, followed by dinner with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae‑won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang‑mo, and Naver founder Lee Hae‑jin near Hongdae.
