LG Chem is reinforcing its high-value materials strategy by unveiling advanced solutions for robotics, automotive electronics, and medical applications at Chinaplas 2026, Asia’s largest plastics exhibition.

The company said it will showcase around 90 strategic products at a 400-square-meter booth at the event, which opens April 21 in Shanghai. Under the theme “Materials that drive industrial transformation,” the exhibition is organized into zones for key industries including robotics, mobility, and healthcare.

Focus on next-generation industries

In the robotics segment, LG Chem will present metallic ABS for exteriors, ultra-high molecular weight PVC for wiring, and high-refractive materials. These are designed to meet the needs of humanoid robots by combining lightweight properties, heat resistance, and transparency.

The company will also introduce battery safety materials, including engineering plastics that delay thermal runaway and aerogel-based insulation materials that help suppress heat propagation.

Expanding EV and medical material portfolio

For automotive applications, LG Chem will display high-gloss, heat-resistant ASA and highly transparent polycarbonate materials for vehicle exteriors and lighting components, aiming to expand adoption in electric vehicles.

In the medical sector, the company will showcase biocompatible ABS and polycarbonate materials suitable for applications such as dialysis machine housings and medical device connectors.

Recycling and sustainability push

Recyclable materials are also part of the lineup. LG Chem will introduce “Unicurable,” a mono-material polyethylene-based ultra-thin packaging film designed to improve recyclability while maintaining performance.

The company plans to leverage customer demand identified during the exhibition to expand sales of high-value products.

An LG Chem official said, “We will strengthen our high-value portfolio through differentiated material technologies and customer experience innovation, targeting China and global markets.”
