President Lee Jae-myung approved the appointment and designation of four members to the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission on March 31, bringing the number of filled seats to six out of seven.
According to presidential spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung, the president authorized the appointments on the same day.
The newly appointed members include standing commissioner Ko Min-su and non-standing commissioner Yoon Sung-ok, both recommended by the ruling party, as well as non-standing commissioners Lee Sang-geun and Choi Soo-young, recommended by the opposition.
Previously, the commission had only two members—Chairman Kim Jong-cheol and non-standing member Ryu Shin-hwan—but with the addition of the four new members, it has now formed a six-member structure.
The commission had been unable to begin full-scale operations due to delays in its composition, but its activities are expected to normalize soon.
The commission consists of seven members in total, including the chairperson. The president appoints two members, including the chair, while the ruling party recommends two and the opposition recommends three, with all members formally appointed or designated by the president.
