Ruling and opposition parties in South Korea agreed to pass a supplementary budget bill aimed at addressing the Middle East crisis by April 10 during a plenary session of the National Assembly.

Floor leaders of the Democratic Party of Korea and the People Power Party met at the National Assembly on March 30 and finalized the schedule for the April extraordinary session. They agreed to process the supplementary budget bill by April 10.

Under the agreement, a government policy speech on the budget will be delivered on April 2, followed by comprehensive policy questions and detailed reviews by the Budget and Accounts Committee on April 7 and 8.

The parties also agreed to hold interpellation sessions from April 3, 6, and 13, while aiming to finalize the budget during the plenary session by April 10.

Song Eon-seok, floor leader of the People Power Party, said that while the schedule and general framework were agreed upon, detailed discussions on the contents of the budget would take place within the Budget Committee.

Han Byung-do, floor leader of the Democratic Party, noted that multiple rounds of meetings were held, including a meeting and lunch with the National Assembly Speaker earlier in the day, leading to the agreement.

Meanwhile, both parties are expected to pass around 60 non-controversial bills during the plenary session scheduled for March 31.
