Global K-pop group BTS is discussing plans to stage a free, open-air comeback performance around Gwanghwamun Square ahead of its full-group return in March.
A representative from HYBE said Monday, “A Gwanghwamun Square performance is currently under discussion. We will make an official announcement once the venue and schedule are finalized.”
Earlier reports suggested the group would hold its March 20 comeback stage at Gwanghwamun Square. HYBE is understood to have applied for venue-use permits covering areas including Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Sungnyemun, and is awaiting review.
BTS will return with its fifth full-length album, Arirang, featuring 14 tracks that explore the group’s identity alongside universal emotions such as longing and deep love. Following the comeback, the group is set to kick off a large-scale world tour starting April 9 in Goyang.
