Kakao announced on Sept. 29 that it will revamp the Friends tab in KakaoTalk’s latest version, reflecting strong user feedback.

Under the change, the classic “Friends List” will return as the first screen in the Friends tab, while the current feed-style posts will be relocated to a separate “News” menu. The company plans to implement the update within the fourth quarter, considering development schedules.

Kakao also said it will further simplify procedures to protect minors. On Sept. 27, it added a “Minor Protection Request” menu inside the “Now Tab (short-form)” to improve accessibility, and additional measures are under review to make applications and settings more convenient.

A Kakao official said, “In addition to improving the Friends tab, we are continuously working on other UX and UI enhancements. We will keep listening closely to user feedback and reflect it to ensure KakaoTalk remains easier and more convenient to use.”
