The acclaimed JTBC thriller Beyond Evil, starring Shin Ha-kyun and Yeo Jin-goo, has been remade in Japan and is set to premiere this July on the satellite broadcaster WOWOW.

According to the production company SLL on April 23, the Japanese remake will feature Yasuda Ken and Mizukami Koushi in the lead roles. The original series, which aired in 2021, follows two men who break rules and laws in their pursuit of a serial killer. The show garnered widespread praise for its intense narrative and strong performances, winning Best Drama and Best Screenplay at the Baeksang Arts Awards that year.

An SLL representative stated, “The Japanese remake of Beyond Evil came about through a proposal from WOWOW. It demonstrates the global scalability of story-driven IP. As the original IP holder, we will work closely with our local partners to enhance the quality of the adaptation.”
