IU‘s songs dominate Melon’s playlist rankings

IU has been recognized as the most beloved artist by users over the past 20 years on Melon, Korea's largest music platform.

According to Melon on Monday, IU was selected as the artist whose songs have been included the most in users' playlists since the service began in 2004.

Melon's "Data Lab" analysis revealed that over the past 20 years, users have created a total of 102 million playlists, featuring 12.84 million songs by about 1.13 million artists. The cumulative inclusion of songs in these playlists amounts to approximately 8.15 billion times, of which playlists containing IU's songs account for 16.97 million, the largest number, making up 16.6% of all playlists.

It is estimated that one out of six Melon playlists features her songs, and IU also ranked first in song inclusion frequency, with her songs included 91.85 million times.

Meanwhile, Paul Kim's song "Every Day, Every Moment" was featured in 3.928 million playlists, earning the title of the "most included song."
