BLACKPINK’s Rosé has withdrawn her membership from the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA).
According to the data released by the KOMCA on Thursday, Rose requested for the termination of her membership agreement with the KOMCA on Oct. 31 last year. Three months later, her membership agreement was formally terminated.
All copyrights associated with Rose’s music will be managed by her American label, Atlantic Records. The agency has been collaborating with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and Broadcast Music Inc (BMI).
Regarding Rose’s move, an industry insider said, “There is no reason for Rose to manage her copyrights separately in Korea and in the United States. She’d have to pay twice the fees.”
In Korea, Rose is the second musician after Seo Taeiji in 2002 to withdraw from the KOMCA.
