Tao's father revealed that his son agreed to leave EXO.

On April 23, Chinese media Sina revealed an exclusive interview with Tao's father.

Tao's father said, "Tao has finally agreed to leave EXO. His treatment is the first priority and everything else is something Tao have to think about and decide."

Regarding the reason to cancel the contract with SM Entertainment, Tao's father said, "The biggest reason is Tao's health issue and worries about the future."

Tao's father said, "When Tao made dangerous performance on stages and hurt himself, the company didn't care much about his injuries. They didn't take care of his injuries properly and that hurt my heart. When I visited Korea, the company told me 'Let's talk about Tao's future.' Talk about his personal workshop came up, and I was happy thinking that the agency finally is acknowledging my son's hard work. But it never happened in the end."

"This decision is painful for me. Tao likes music and his team EXO. Even though he didn't get proper treatment when he got injured, he never blamed the company. But I wanted Tao to come home for treatment. As a father, I can no longer see him stand on stage in an injured state," his father added.
